Mythical Roommates is a slice-of-life, fantasy, and comedy comic.
Roughly 100 years ago, creatures from folklore and mythologies around the world decided to stop hiding away from humans and integrate themselves into civilization. To do so, they had to adopt mostly-human forms in order to make humans more comfortable with their presence. Now, the world is full of all kinds of interesting species! Werewolves, dragons, vampires, cyclopes, nagas, and many more can be found in human civilizations all over the world! This story follows best friends Orion (a fairy) and Ryuu (a western and Japanese dragon mix) as they navigate their way through adulthood and life among humans. Join them as they find jobs, shop for groceries, and try to coexist with annoying neighbors. The hardest part? Trying to keep a handle on Ryuu's unlimited rage.
A new cover design for Mythical Roommates
Ryuu now has tattoos of Sakura blossoms on his left arm and the dragon tattoo on his right arm is now orange. His tail comes out over his jeans.
The process of designing a cover for Mythical Roommates
"The Field Trip" is a currently unfinished comic that gives a glimpse into Ryuu and Orion's adolescent years. As Ryuu entered his teen years, he's started getting more aggressive due to his western dragon blood and it scares him. This eventually starts Ryuu on the road to try and control those impulses with the help of Orion.
After messing around with Clip Studio for a while, I managed to figure out hot to use the 3D models to help with posing my characters. Here, I changed the main color of Maslov's tail to match his skin and changed both of his tattoos. I also added a tattoo to Orion. I also managed to figure out how to give Maslov more distinctly "Asian" features. This is also where I changed his name to Ryuu

This is the first time I drew Ryuu's father, whom I decided to make a western dragon from Scotland. Color wise, I decided to have him match Ryuu's coloring rather than Ryuu's mother. Ryuu has his father's horns
My first time creating an environment for this story. For this class, I had to use a 3D environment-building software to create an interior environment that I would then place characters into.
For my final in this class, I had to create a comic and a small pitch packet. In this version, the dragon guy is renamed Maslov, because it sounded better than Dracul, which reminded me of Dracula, a vampire.
For this class assignment, we were tasked with creating a story that fit within the limited number of frames we were given. However, I was severely lacking in ideas. So, I named the mystery guy Dracul, made him a dragon, and gave him a fairy roommate named Orion.
This is the drawing that started it all. I finally started to get the hang of drawing digitally, and the idea to draw this guy popped into my head. He didn't have a name or a backstory. Just a guy with a cigarette, standing outside at night surrounded by grey cubes because I didn't know how to draw buildings yet.
